Spay and Neuter Programs and Other Assistance Programs - These are mostly links for Wisconsin and some National Links.  Check with your local shelter to see if they offer low cost spay neuter for indoor and outdoor (feral) cats.   Kittens can be sterilized at about 2 lbs (8-10 weeks). This insures that if you rehome kittens, they will be going home already fixed!  Please bear in mind that most of these places are booked from a few weeks to a few months, so schedule the appointment in advance and see if you can have some flexibility, since cats may not be trapped on schedule.  They can hang out in the trap for a day or two until your appointment if necessary.  See the trapping guidelines on this website

  • HOT OFF THE PRESS.  WI  Community Veterinary Center (formerly Spay me Clinic) has reopened its drop off TNR program for $50 per cat. Drop off times are Mon, Tues, Wed 8 AM to 12 PM, but call 608-244-1400 to ensure spots are available.  All feral cat spay and neuter procedures will include (no exceptions): an ear tip, rabies vaccine, distemper vaccine, injectable pain medication administered during the appointment, and a dose of flea & mite treatment.
    Due to high demand we will do our best to spay or neuter the same day as drop off but in some cases cats may be held overnight and spayed or neutered the next day.

  • Precision Veterinary (West Side of Madison) low cost spay/neuters ($75), vaccines, and other vet services for indoor and outdoor cats
  •  Spay Me Clinic now known as Wisconsin Community Veterinary Center (East Side of Madison) also does low cost spay/neuters, vaccinations and other vet services for indoor and outdoor cats. 608-224-1400 or email [email protected] They also provide transports to and from the clinic from outlying areas out Wisconsin.  They have a Storm the Streets project that provides free spay/neuter and vaccines several times throughout the year.   • Capital City Vet Clinic in Sun Prairie spay neuter and vaccination specials.
  • Animart has low cost vaccination clinics,  and exams, and you can check out the store websites for the schedule. Animart also does low cost spay/neuter

  • Starlight Vet Clinic in Blue Mounds has a low cost spay neuter, vaccine and eartip service for $80

  • Fix a Pet - low cost spay neuter for Central WI through Clark County Humane Society.  They will take appts from anywhere in the state
  • The Fix is In - is not longer doing low cost spay neuters but can offer financial support and will help get outdoor cats in to be fixed at other clinics
  • Waupaca Humane Society - low cost vaccination and spay neuter clinics
  • Jackson County Animal Shelter gives discount coupons (2 animals per household per year) for spay/neuter that can be used at a vet clinic or a low cost spay/neuter clinic.  The closest is the Fix a Pet through Clark County Humane Soc (see above).  Check with your vet or clinic to see if they accept the coupons.  This program is for Jackson Co residents ONLY and you have to come to the shelter IN PERSON to get the coupons.
